Accessibility statement.

Last updated May 2, 2026.

Buying a car shouldn't be harder for some people than others. We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA across this site, and we're honest about where we're still working.

Conformance target

We design and build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most US courts and the Department of Justice cite for ADA Title III website compliance. That means:

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive control on this site can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Tab order is logical, focus is always visible, and there are no keyboard traps. A β€œskip to main content” link appears on first Tab.
  • Screen-reader support. Headings are properly ranked, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) are labeled, form fields have associated labels, buttons have accessible names, and dynamic content uses ARIA live regions where appropriate.
  • Color contrast. Body text meets 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background; large text and UI components meet 3:1. We do not rely on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Alt text. Vehicle photos include descriptive alt text generated from the year, make, model, trim, and exterior color. Decorative imagery uses empty alt or aria-hidden.
  • Resize and zoom. Layout reflows cleanly up to 400% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • Motion sensitivity. Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion and can be disabled in the Settings drawer.

Built-in controls

The Settings drawer (gear icon, top-right of every page) lets you:

  • Switch between light, dark, or auto theme
  • Scale text (small / medium / large / extra-large)
  • Enable a high-contrast mode
  • Disable animations and parallax effects

These preferences persist across visits on the same device. The site also respects your operating-system preferences for prefers-reduced-motion and prefers-color-schemeif you haven't set our control.

How we test

  • VoiceOver on macOS Safari and iOS
  • NVDA on Windows Chrome and Firefox
  • Keyboard-only navigation (no mouse)
  • Browser zoom up to 400%
  • Color-contrast verification with axe-core
  • Manual review of each new page or component before release

Known issues

We are imperfect and we'd rather tell you than not. Currently:

  • Some third-party embeds (the trade-in valuation iframe, the financing pre-approval form) inherit accessibility from their hosting providers. We've raised concerns with both.
  • The interactive vehicle-comparison table can be hard to read at very small viewport widths in landscape orientation.
  • A handful of decorative SVG icons are missing aria-hidden attributes. Cleanup is in progress.

If you find a problem β€” contact Addys directly

Please tell us. This is the fastest way to get a real human:

When you reach out, it helps to include:

  • The page URL where you ran into trouble
  • What assistive technology you were using (e.g., NVDA on Chrome, VoiceOver on iOS)
  • What you expected to happen vs. what actually happened

We respond to every accessibility report personally, typically within one business day. If something blocks you from getting information you need to buy a car, we'll work around it manually β€” by phone, text, or email β€” while we fix the site.

Physical access

The East Hills Chevrolet of Freeport showroom and service entrance are wheelchair-accessible. Reserved accessible parking is at the front of the lot. Our service waiting area has wide aisles and a TTY phone is available on request. If you need a specific accommodation for a visit, text or call ahead and we'll have it ready.

Ongoing review

We re-audit twice a year, plus after any major redesign. This statement is reviewed and updated alongside each audit.
